The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts MacArthur Park Los Angeles (LevittLA)

Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts MacArthur Park Los Angeles (LPMP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007 to restore the historic band shell in MacArthur Park and present 50 summer concerts annually.  Admission is always FREE, making live music and the arts accessible to all.  The concerts feature a diverse lineup of artists from acclaimed, emerging talent to seasoned, award-winning performers.  Programming is designed to appeal to all tastes, bringing people from all walks of life together to share an evening of great music.  As music fills the park, so do families, friends, and Angelinos from all over the city creating community through music.  Since 2007, over 85,000 people have gathered in MacArthur Park to picnic on the grassy lawn and enjoy music under the stars.

Each year, LPMP relies on generous support from the community, private foundations, government programs and corporate sponsors to produce its culturally diverse Summer Concert Season.  We welcome your new or continuing support!

Contributions of any amount underscore the power of the performing arts to build community, reclaim out city’s green spaces, and foster dreams.  Together, we are connecting Angelinos and inspiring generations to come, as music plays in MacArthur Park.  Donations are fully tax-deductible.

History of The Levitt Pavilions
The Mortimer Levitt Foundation (MLF), created in 1966 by New York philanthropists Mortimer and Mimi Levitt, donates funds to support performing arts venues that build communities, support diversity, and enhance access to the arts. Mortimer Levitt, who had a long love affair with outdoor music, grew up in an era when almost every community had a Sunday afternoon concert on the village green. Enjoying outdoor music under the stars felt extremely magical to Mortimer. On his 90th birthday, Mortimer sold the company he had owned for 60 years and decided to replace his 82 custom shirt shops with Levitt Pavilions around the country.

Mortimer Levitt passed away in 2005 at the age of 98. The Mortimer Levitt Foundation lives on to support the Levitt Pavilions for the Performing Arts that Mortimer started over 40 years ago. His wife, Mimi Levitt, is now president of the Mortimer Levitt Foundation and his daughter, Elizabeth Levitt Hirsch, serves as vice president and develops the expansion of the Levitt Pavilion program.

The Levitt Foundation has a strong commitment to contribute to the well being of families through the arts in a learning and entertainment environment outdoors.
